Producing Quality Water Tanks

Poly Water Tanks have been manufacturing polyethylene products for over 19 years and are continually improving our products as we gain experience. Working with engineers to design the moulds for our tanks and other polyethylene products, we wanted to ensure that our products stood the test of time.

Quality Assurance

Our quality assurance starts with our AS/NZS 4766:2006 certification where our tanks have been assessed and approved against the following measures;

  • Tank design is assessed for durability using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to estimate the structural behaviour under given loads – our tanks have been tested to last up to 20 years
  • The consistency of the thickness of the tank walls, roof and base is determined by taking measurements in up to 30 places over the surface of the tank using an Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge
  • Tanks are frozen to -40°C and a Drop Impact Test is carried out to determine whether the cooking process resulted in the correct molecular formation required to produce optimal tank strength

Manufacturing Excellence

In addition to these tests, all Poly Water Tanks are;

  • manufactured from RT70 polyethylene powder, which results in a tank that is certified to store potable drinking water
  • of even wall thickness as a result of the rotational moulding process
  • moulded in one piece, thus eliminating the potential for seams to split
  • manufactured with a higher-than-necessary quantity of powder

More powder + rotational moulding + RT711 powder = thicker walls + stronger tanks without the need for internal or external roof supports.
