A slimline water tank is the perfect solution for domestic rainwater storage:
- they can be situated in a narrow space, ideal for beside the house
- they can be colour-matched to the exterior house colours
- they can store large quantities of water with a small footprint
Considered Design
But not all Slimline tanks are the same. In the early days of Poly Water Tanks, research into the pros and cons of Slimline water tanks indicated that some of the designs available on the market were prone to splitting. This occurred due to the presence of moulded seams that ran from the top to the bottom of the tank – the increased pressure at the bottom of the tank would cause the seam to fail and the tank would bulge and split.
In order to prevent this from occurring, the tank design could not have any vertical moulded seams and voila, the multi-cylinder Slimline tank was invented. Each individual cylinder is moulded in one piece and the mould contains no vertical seams. The structural integrity of this Slimline tank design is superior to a fully moulded tank as each cylinder is a full circle, connected to itself from top to bottom.
The tanks are connected with 40mm brass joiners at the top and bottom of the tank with a pneumatic rattle gun. Each joiner is hollow, allowing water to flow equally through all cylinders.
